Wildcraft: Handmade Works by El Dorado Artisans
Arts and Culture El Dorado (formerly El Dorado Arts Council) has announced the opening of its newest exhibition at Confidence Gallery. Wildcraft will celebrate the artisans of El Dorado County with a display of handmade works in a variety of mediums—ceramic, wood, metal, glass, fiber, pigments—that showcases unusual techniques and approaches to form.
As part of its 35th Anniversary Celebration, Arts and Culture El Dorado invited artisans who live or work in the County to participate, to reflect not only its new name but its mission to serve as the arts organization for all of El Dorado County; artisans from all five supervisorial districts are represented. “We wanted to open the doors of our new home on Main Street to the whole community and really celebrate the great artisans who are working here,” said Arts and Culture Program Manager Andrew Vonderschmitt, who co-curated the show with local arts expert Marya Osucha. “Some of the work is very approachable, and some is quite challenging, but everybody will find something to admire. There should be lots of great conversation on opening night.”
An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 28, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, in the Confidence Gallery, located at 487 Main Street. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be on hand from John Sanders’ Old Town Grill, along with complimentary El Dorado County wines. The public is invited to attend and enjoy the guitar artistry of Phil Reddin, who will be performing during the evening.
