Announcing Recipients of 2020 CARES Grants

Arts and Culture El Dorado will award grants of $6,315 each to two local cultural organizations that serve communities of color as part of the California Arts Council’s State-Local Partner CARES grant program.

Concept: art+movement is a cultural arts coalition dedicated to exhibiting the work of artists and culture bearers of the Pacific Western Region, and supports California Indian, Native American, and Indigenous arts and curation through community-centered contemporary art exhibits, workshops, events and educational programming. Funding from this grant will be distributed between operational support and a holiday program in association with Multiple Horizons: Native Perspectives at the Crossroads at the Crocker Art Museum.

The mission of Cosumnes Culture and WaterWays is to preserve, conserve, and perpetuate, for charitable purposes, the land habitat, waterways, and native culture important to the indigenous people, plants, and animals of El Dorado County and nearby areas. Funding from this grant will be used to stabilize the operating budget and support efforts to provide opportunities to the community.

This program aligns with the California Arts Council’s public mission and commitment to racial equity, as well as Arts and Culture El Dorado’s own principles of diversity and inclusion, which respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages and ensure that all voices are valued and heard.
