40th Anniversary Celebration

Arts & Culture El Dorado: Celebrating 40 Years of Enriching Our Community

As we approach a significant milestone — the 40th anniversary of Arts & Culture El Dorado — we reflect on our long-standing commitment to nurturing and preserving the rich tapestry of arts and culture in El Dorado County. Our organization has been at the forefront of promoting, connecting, and empowering a diverse range of cultural expressions, from indigenous arts to contemporary music and theater.  We have programming focusing in on the youth, veterans, agriculture, Latinos,  and Native Americans.  At our  “Switchboard Gallery”, we have hosted Ofrendas celebrating Dia de Los Muertos, skateboard cultural, works of women artists in our region along with many other fascinating exhibits.  We have given a voice for veterans to tall their stories, highlighted poets in El Dorado County and have been providing fiduciary oversight and financial management to help build capacity for emerging arts groups that are not yet 501 (c)3 organizations.

This year, as part of our celebration, we are embarking on an ambitious project to restore and rejuvenate two of our county's historical treasures: Confidence Hall and the Emigrant Jane Stuart Building, affectionately known as "Ketchup and Mustard." Constructed in the mid-19th century, these buildings have served various pivotal roles, from a firehouse to City Hall and a public library. Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, they stand as pillars of our community's heritage.

This proposal aims to outline the vision for the restoration of these iconic structures and to invite you to participate in this transformative venture. Through your support, we can ensure that these buildings are not only preserved but also re-envisioned as vibrant centers of cultural activity and education within our newly proposed Historic Cultural District.

As we celebrate four decades of cultural enrichment, we look forward to forging partnerships that will sustain our community's cultural legacy for future generations. We believe that with your support, we can achieve a vision that extends beyond preservation, towards a reinvigorated cultural life for all in El Dorado County.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a lasting impact. We are excited to share further details about this project and discuss how your involvement can help shape the future of arts and culture in our community.

Please join us at David Girard Winery on Thursday November 7, 2024 at 6:00 PM for our 40th Anniversary. We will use the occasion to kick off the capital campaign for the Placerville Historic Renovation project.
